The concussion time bomb

It is a common misconception that an athlete must have a loss of consciousness in order to be diagnosed with a concussion. In reality, loss of consciousness is seen in less than 10% of concussions. Important to note is the fact that concussion signs and symptoms are typically transient, and resolve in a sequential manner. It is also important to be aware that symptoms may appear minutes to hours after the initial impact and may be a sign of a more severe injury. New research suggests head injuries can trigger a descent into dementia, madness and maybe even murder. Take the time to read “The concussion time bomb” from macleans.ca.
