GTHL Officiating Awards Night

Last week, the NYHL celebrated it’s stripes with the annual GTHL Officiating Awards Night. The celebratory night recognizes individual referees from the GTHL, NYHL and MHL for a variety of accomplishments. Here are your NYHL winners for the 2021-2022 season:

Most Promising
Ethan Bucshpun

Most Improved
Michael Krestall

Jim Hickey Award – Most Deserving
Mike Duggan
Accepting on his behalf Joanne Duggan (Wife), Jeff Duggan (Son), Michelle Duggan (Daughter)

Mike Duggan passed away last year after a tough battle with cancer. Mike had been a referee since 1973 which included stints out in BC, with the MTHL, the NYHL and 25 years as the supervisor for the OHA. Mike was a very reliable and well respected referee throughout his career. He retired from refereeing November 2019 but stayed on with the NYHL as head supervisor of the referees.

Presenting the awards were Referee-In-Chief Steve Gerry, Assistant Referee-In-Chief Seth Kirshenbaum and NYHL President Paul Maich.

Congratulations to all of the winners from the GTHL, NYHL and MHL on their much deserved accomplishments!
