Anne Sencich Retires After 32 Years

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of one of the most dedicated and tenured members of the North York Hockey league family, Anne “Annie” Sencich, who has served the North York Hockey League for the last 32 years. As Annie embarks on her retirement, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on her remarkable contributions to our organization.

For over three decades, Annie has been an integral part of the North York Hockey League, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of our league.  Annie set the standard on her first day in 1990 and carried that through to her last day in December of 2022.

Annie always fought for what was fair and was never afraid to speak out for what she thought was right. “Me and my big mouth,” she’d say. Whether it was the first face you saw or the first voice you heard, if you needed anything by way of the NYHL office, you got Annie. Over the years, Annie has built relationships with countless members of our community and has touched the lives of many. She has been a constant presence within the league, providing guidance, leadership and an unwavering commitment to our community that will surely be missed.

Her passion for hockey and her love for the league was evident in all that she did. Annie became a lifetime member of the North York Hockey League in 2013 and was once again recognized by the league at the 2019 Annual General Meeting where she was awarded the Bob Svanefelt Award for outstanding contributions to the North York Hockey League.

We wish Annie nothing but the best in retirement and thank her for the lifetime of contributions to our league.
