04 Jan NYHL x Maple Leafs Development Day Recap
The North York Hockey League welcomed Coach Greg Schell, Head of Youth Development with the Toronto Maple Leafs, to conduct special development practices for the league’s young players on December 23. Coach Greg’s expertise and guidance provided a unique opportunity for the players to enhance their abilities on the ice through fun and engaging drills. Each player left with the guidance of an experienced member in the hockey community and more importantly, every player left the ice with a smile.
As a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work, participating players also left with Hockey Hall of Fame tickets, allowing them to explore and celebrate the rich history of the sport. Additionally, players received exclusive Maple Leafs swag so that they could show off their support for our home town team.
To add a touch of warmth and delight to the occasion, the Downsview arena snack bar, operated by Ashley Steinfeld and Global Brand Food Services Inc., contributed to the festivities by providing the players with a complimentary hot chocolate or popcorn.
The collaboration between the NYHL, Coach Greg Schell, the Toronto Maple Leafs and our local establishments serves as a shining example of how the hockey community can come together to inspire and support the next generation of athletes, creating lasting memories and instilling a love for the game.
We’d also like to thank our volunteer coaches, Skylar Achilles, Jesse Morrison, Anthony Vieira and Brandon Vieira for spending their Saturday afternoon helping out the NYHL community!
We hope everyone who participated enjoyed themselves and can’t wait to provide more opportunities like this to the NYHL community.
