NYHL Equipment Drive for Indigenous Youth

The NYHL will be hosting a Hockey Equipment Drive in collaboration with Their Opportunity to support indigenous youth’s access to the great game we all love.

“We’ve been told by numerous communities that we’re saving lives. We’re putting children into sports that would not of had the opportunity to play.” Graham McWaters of Their Opportunity on CP24 Breakfast speaking about Their Opportunity’s contribution to Indigenous Youth access to hockey and the NYHL’s Hockey Equipment Drive this weekend at Downsview Arena.

The drive will take place over two days at Downsview Arena. The date and times for the drive are below:

Saturday, December 14 – 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Sunday, December 15 – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

New or Used equipment that we are looking to collect includes the following:

  • Helmets
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Elbow Pads
  • Gloves
  • Pants
  • Shin Pads
  • Skates
  • Hockey Sticks

Items that will NOT be accepted include: jerseys, socks, neck guards, undergarments or goalie gear.

All donations from NYHL teams will automatically enter them into the upcoming Marlies Team of the Month giveaway in December.

The NYHL hosted the first equipment drive for indigenous youth back in 1961 and we look to continue the legacy we started with a great turnout from our hockey community!
