28 Mar In Memory of Gregory Hopper
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory (Greg) Thomas Hopper, who left us on Saturday, March 22 – with his wife, son, and other loved ones at his side.
Greg was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was the second of eight children born to Margaret (Murray) Hopper and Kenneth Anthony John Hopper. As a young adult, Greg moved to Toronto where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Loretta (Sinkiewicz) Hopper. Together, they would help raise Greg’s daughter, Cheryl, along with their son, Christopher.
Greg was a loyal, dedicated, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and community leader – known for his strength in leadership, and driven by his passion to connect and serve others. Greg naturally embraced leadership roles within his immediate and extended family, his work family (Maple Lodge Farms, Sick Kids Hospital), and his local community where he served as President of the Victoria Village Hockey League for almost 20 years. Through these experiences, Greg had a positive impact on so many people – helping shine a light on everyone he encountered.
While Greg’s passing fills us all with sadness, his family would like to take this time to truly celebrate the impact Greg has made on their lives, and the lives of so many others. They have asked for family and friends to please share a short story that captures one of their favourite memories of Greg. This collection of stories will help his family see Greg’s legacy through many different eyes and perspectives, something they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
