NYHL Equipment Drive Changing Lives

On Saturday, the North York Hockey League ran it’s second successful equipment drive to support indigenous youth access to hockey. In support of Their Opportunity, the one day drive received over 60 bags of hockey equipment and 40 hockey sticks. Their Opportunity drives have grown larger each year to the point where today, 1,000 bags of equipment are donated each fall to Indigenous communities across Ontario.

The drive took place at Downsview Arena and received donations from generous community members from across the GTA. Basements and garages across the city rejoiced as the clutter of hockey bags and equipment were passed on to those who could make better use of it.

Special thank you to the following NYHL teams for their generous donations:

  • U13 Forest Hill Blue
  • U13 Forest Hill Gold
  • U16 Forest Hill Blue

  • U18 Forest Hill Blue

The above teams and ALL teams from North Toronto and Willowdale have been entered into the November Marlies Team of the Month giveaway thanks to their donations. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 12th.

Through efforts like these, more young people can enjoy the benefits of playing hockey and developing the lifelong skills and friendships that come with it.

We couldn’t be happier with the response from our hockey community and look forward to doing it all again next year!
