15 Jan Affiliate Player (AP) Restrictions in Effect
The Winter Season has reached the mid-way point and the playoffs are just around the corner. To ensure a fair and equal opportunity down the stretch and into the playoffs, the NYHL enacts certain restrictions on Affiliate Players, also known as AP call-ups.
Beginning on January 15, the minimum bench strength rule will be in effect. This means teams cannot call up a player unless they are below their age group’s designated minimum bench strength.
Affiliate players will also be restricted on the number of times they can be called up for the remainder of Winter Season and Playoffs.
If an Affiliate Player is used outside of these restrictions, the AP will be considered an ineligible player and the team will be at risk of forfeit.

This can also be found on our Coaches Portal under the “Rules and Resources” tab.
These restrictions are put into place so that no team can use an Affiliate Player to give their team an unfair advantage over their competition.
Please familiarize yourself with these rules so that games are decided on the ice and not in the NYHL office.
