York Mills Blue Walk in the Coldest Night of the Year

The U12 York Mills Blue team recently took part in the Coldest Night of the Year, a nationwide winter walk raising funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.

This year, the team proudly walked in support of Ve’ahavta, a Toronto‑based humanitarian organization dedicated to helping individuals and families facing homelessness through mobile street outreach, emergency supplies, and compassionate support for people of all backgrounds. Ve’ahavta’s work focuses on meeting people where they are, providing food, winter clothing, and essential care during the harshest conditions.

Despite the cold weather, the players showed incredible teamwork and determination, raising almost $5,000 in support of Ve’ahavta’s
mission. Their efforts contributed directly to programs that help some of the most vulnerable members of our community stay safe and warm during the winter months.

Along with more than 40,000 walkers and over 6,500 teams nationwide, Rangers players, coaches, and parents came together to support this worthy cause—demonstrating that teamwork truly goes beyond the rink.
