08 Nov Hockey Fights Cancer
Hockey can be more than just a game.
U15 Scarborough and Parkdale showed just how special this game could be on Thursday night at Downsview Arena. Scarborough was planning to tape their sticks pink in support of one of their mothers who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Their opponent, Parkdale, got wind of this gesture and offered their support by taping their sticks pink in a grand act of sportsmanship.
At the start of the game, both teams skated by the Scarborough stands and tapped the glass, with their pink sticks, where the mother was sitting to show their support.
We are consistently amazed at how our players and teams can come together to transcend the game we love. We wish the Scarborough mother nothing but the best in her fight against cancer.
