06 Jan Blind Hockey Showcase Postponed
The NYHL offers it’s deepest condolences to Canadian Blind Hockey and the DeMontis family for the passing of Massimo DeMontis, leader and key volunteer with Canadian Blind Hockey.
We look forward to hosting this event sometime in the future.
The North York Hockey League will be partnering with Canadian Blind Hockey to host a Blind Hockey Showcase that will take place at 3:30 PM on January 18th at Downsview arena.
The showcase will feature members from the Canadian National Blind Hockey Team and, following the game, spectators can meet and greet with players that took part in the showcase.
Canadian Blind Hockey is a charity that changes the lives of children and youth who are blind or partially sighted by providing Blind Hockey programming which includes introductory try-it sessions, development camps, regional and national competitions, and by supporting the Canadian Blind Hockey Teams.
The parasport of Blind Hockey is played by athletes whose level of vision ranges from legally blind – which is approximately 10% vision – to completely blind, using an adapted puck that makes noise and is bigger than a traditional puck.
We are hopeful this partnership and showcase will spread awareness for blind or partially sighted athletes and help to further grow the Canadian Blind Hockey program.
